Martin Drive Neighborhood Proposal

for Duplex Home Ownership and Beautification Initiative

We have received funds from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and Making Connections Milwaukee to be put into our account which will be overseen by a fiduciary agent, Select Milwaukee, to implement the proposal outlined below.

Proposal goals:

1. Increase the percentage of owner occupied duplexes in the Martin Drive

                 Neighborhood.

          2. Improve the existing Martin Drive housing stock.

          3. Strength the neighborhood cohesiveness.

Implementation strategies:

          1.  Duplex Ownership - create a video/power point presentation to show to

community housing organizations.  Housing organizations would include realtors who would be promoting the MDN area.

2. Housing Stock Improvement:

-         Create and distribute a package explaining all the available home repair rebate, grants and loan programs.

-         Develop a porch light and address plate repair/replacement program.

3. Neighborhood Cohesiveness

-         Plan block parties in each "section" of the area to organize quality of life issues.

-         Foster relationships between area youth and adults

-         Fund our traditional activities such as the newsletter, the annual meeting, the Trick or Treat night and the rummage sale.

There are funds included in this proposal to pay an administrative aide and a youth/community organizer to assist in the implementation of all of the above.
